Positive Outlook for London’s Olympic bid

Northants-based Outlook Audio Visual is helping EDF Energy to promote its involvement with the London 2012 Olympic bid.

The company has devised, designed and built a ‘Leap Counter’, an arch-like structure which enables people to register their support for the bid by passing through it. The idea originally came from the Olympic bid's strap line of "Leap for London" and the arch will be visiting events throughout London, the South East, the South West and East Anglia.

At its heart is an infrared beam connected to an electronic counter. When someone leaps or passes through the arch and breaks the beam the counter adds to the running total on a display panel.

It has been designed to be suitable for children and adults as well as disabled people in wheelchairs, to be robust enough for outdoor and indoor use, easy to transport and capable of being assembled by only two people.

The arch also features interchangeable panels for EDF Energy's four main brands - EDF Energy, SWEB Energy, Seeboard Energy and London Energy - depending on where it is being used.

So far more than 45,000 people have passed through it and the final total number of leaps will be incorporated into the Olympic submission document to show the public's support for the bid.

The programme of events will continue until the bid process is completed in 2005.
